WHICH CLASSES DO I TAKE?

AT MKG DETROIT, YOU ARE WELCOME TO TRAIN IN ANY SPECIFIC ART OR ARTS THAT INTEREST YOU! SO, FEEL FREE TO TRY ANYTHING THAT LOOKS COOL. SOME FOLKS LIKE HITTING THINGS (KICKBOXING/BOXING), SOME ENJOY THE WOW-FACTOR OR INTRICACIES OF WEAPONRY, AND MOST OF US CROSS-TRAIN IN SEVERAL STYLES EVERY WEEK. IT’S ALL UP TO YOU! YOU

CLASSES ARE LABELED AS BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, AND/OR ADVANCED FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE.

EACH “BLOCK SESSION” IS MADE OF TWO 45MIN CLASSES. YOU ARE FREE TO ATTEND EITHER OR BOTH.


HOW DO I START?

WE OFFER REGULAR FREE COMMUNITY KICKBOXING WORKSHOPS, ROUGHLY EVERY SIX WEEKS, AS A WAY TO TRY OUT MARTIAL ART TRAINING FOR THE FIRST TIME, ASK QUESTIONS, AND SEE WHAT MKG DETROIT IS ALL ABOUT. MOST OF OUR MEMBERS START THIS WAY. VISIT OUR EVENT PAGE TO SEE WHEN THE NEXT WORKSHOP IS BEING HELD.

YOU ARE ALSO ALWAYS WELCOME TO ATTEND ONE OR TWO CLASSES FOR FREE AS A TRIAL OFFER.

ALL MKG MEMBERSHIPS ARE ALL-INCLUSIVE*, AND ALL CLASSES ARE BEGINNER FRIENDLY.

*SPECIAL CLASS PACKAGES AVAILABLE FOR YOGA, WOMEN’S KICKBOXING, & YOUTH MARTIAL ARTS.
STANDARD MEMBERSHIPS ARE FOR UNLIMITED CLASSES, AND ARE OUR MOST POPULAR OPTION.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?

NOTHING. AN OPEN MIND HELPS, BUT OTHERWISE IT’S THAT SIMPLE. WEAR COMFORTABLE WORKOUT CLOTHES. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE BOXING GLOVES OR OTHER GEAR, FEEL FREE TO USE YOUR OWN, AND IF YOU’RE NEW TO TRAINING, WE HAVE A COLLECTION OF EQUIPMENT TO LOAN YOU. CLEAN-SOLED INDOOR GYM SHOES ARE PERMITTED ON THE MATS, AS IS BAREFOOT OR SOCK-FOOT TRAINING. THERE IS ROOM TO CHANGE ON SITE.

HOW DO I GET THE MOST OUT OF MY TRAINING?

THE MKG METHOD IS DESIGNED TO EXPOSE YOU TO DIFFERENT STYLES AND TECHNIQUES IN EACH AREA OF MARTIAL ART TRAINING. AS SUCH, THOSE SEEKING TO DEVELOP A DEVOTED PERSONAL PRACTICE AND MARTIAL ART LIFESTYLE CHOOSE TO STUDY EACH AREA OF THE MARTIAL SPECTRUM, ie EACH ART WE TEACH.

WHENEVER POSSIBLE, WE SUGGEST YOU TRAIN EACH ART AVAILABLE AT MKG DETROIT, PERHAPS STUDYING 1-3 AT A TIME. TRY TO FIND ELEMENTS TO PRACTICE AT HOME AS PART OF A REGULAR ROUTINE - IDEALLY A DAILY RITUAL OF 30 MINUTES OF MOVEMENT IN YOUR ART. BY CROSS-TRAINING IN DIFFERENT STYLES, AND DEVELOPING YOUR OWN DAILY PRACTICE, YOU WILL LEARN MORE READILY THE LIFE-CHANGING BENEFITS OF MARTIAL ART, AND ADD MORE MOVEMENT DIVERSITY TO YOUR FITNESS AND HOLISTIC HEALTH PRACTICE.
