For some of us, the idea of martial art or kickboxing class sounds a little daunting. Film and television have told us that self defense or MMA instruction must always include sparring, fighting, or great tests of tolerance. At MKG Detroit, this is simply not the case. All of our classes are safe, fun, and welcoming to all experience and fitness levels.
Still, for those who would rather ease into the water instead of jumping into the deep end, MKG Detroit offers a weekly Beginner class that serves as an on-ramp to the various areas of study found when training in the MKG Method. This hour-long session is carefully designed to guide you through exciting kickboxing and martial art drills that allow everyone to start on the same page. There is virtually no body contact whatsoever in this class, with all training done safely on impact pads and other training equipment. You will learn the basic footwork, strikes, defensive structures, and other exciting martial art modalities that will guarantee your successful immersion into a healthy and safe martial art lifestyle.
